Palma Report Day 1: 22 September

“”We took off from Cape Town on time at 15.30 yesterday (21st) and arrived safely in Palma at lunchtime on Friday, but unfortunately our bags didn’t. After trying to find our bags and then reporting them missing we came out and finally met Capt Phil an hour later. Palma is beautiful but driving into town on the wrong side of the road was scary. It was also the first time on an airplane for two of us so all in all an adventurous day.

We are staying in an apartment under Capt. Phil’s house here to views over the harbour are mind blowing and unreal. There are so many super yachts all in sight and it is amazing.

After a really nice lunch that Aunty Anne made and a briefing from Captain Phil we went to STP shipyard to meet the yacht “Mirage” who had just pulled in for an unscheduled overnight stop on their way to Ibiza due to bad weather. This gave us a chance to meet Captain Colin Richardson and also the famous Lutho (Thomas). The owner of “Mirage” is the one who has sponsored two of our flights to get here in Palma.  We helped the crew for a couple of hours to wash the boat and then they actually paid us! This has now  become our first paid job in life. We were also given a tour of the 54 meter motor yacht which was built in Holland and has 20 crew on board. The tour and visit was absolutely amazing and we did not imagine that this existed.

We returned home for a chicken dinner which Captain Phil had made and got to taste his homemade hot sauce and got to eat Spanish rice. After dinner we went with Captain Phil to a small local supermarket to buy a few extra supplies and then off to bed.”
