MEET CAPTAIN COLIN – A MAN WHO IS PAYING IT FORWARD WHERE IT’S NEEDED MOST

Colin Richardson is captain of the 54 meter Feadship “Mirage” – and the man who has forever changed the lives of Lawhill alumni, Lutho Thomas and Janoel Meyer by giving them permanent employment in the industry.  He attended Simon’s Town School from 1976 to 1983/4 (he thinks…;-)) and then we moved to Fish Hoek High where he matriculated in 1987.

He shared these interesting memories of his school days ..

“Simon’s Town School was a very conservative school in the 1980s, and we all had to wear army uniform and learn to march, shoot when we were in the older grades and we also had week long camps at Cape Point during our winter three-week holidays.

What was so odd, even back then, that the school was so army focused when we had the navy on our doorstep!

Because I was so keen on sailing and the sea I ended up joining the Cadets TS Woltemade in Lakeside for a few years.

There was no Lawhill programme at the time, but I do recall Mr Brian Ingpen joining Simon’s Town shortly before I left the school.
