On December 1, 2013, Impumelelo presented awards to 25 best-practice projects that have found solutions to social issues. The awards were handed over by Minister of Science and Technology, Mr Derek Hanekom.
The Lawhill Maritime Centre was one of four organisations to receive a Platinum Award.
